Our Story
Most men have great difficulty in fitting into the typical standard sizes. While a good shirting brand does provide quality, the size is not always appropriate, for example, either the sleeves land up being too long or the shirt flares up like a balloon when you tuck it in. This is because, these shirts are made for the standard body types, thus, fitting the most of us terribly. On the other hand, your family tailor would very well understand your fit, body type but the hassle of explaining to him what you exactly want and the multiple trials tire you down.
Taking the family textile business towards a new tangent and trying to bridge this gap of fabric to fit, 16 stitches was born.
What’s in the name?
Our main focus at the company is to provide quality and durability. While quality is largely depicted by the fabric used, the durability depends on the stitching and construction of the product.
A durable shirt has a high number of stitches per inch, or SPI. A seam with a low SPI may blow out when you least want it to. Like when you’re gesturing to emphasize a point in a meeting. And while you can make a joke about your muscles being too big to be contained, you’ll still be standing there in a shredded shirt when the laughter dies down.
While off-the-rack brands have anywhere between 10-14 stitches per inch, for a good quality shirt, SPI should be above 16 . We try to provide a minimum of 16 SPI for our shirts.
